Crypto and investment: guaranteed profit is a lie

Fake trading platforms, ‘investment managers’ and pump-and-dump groups. Why crypto scams are the fastest growing fraud in Europe.

HOW IT WORKS A stranger — or a convincing ad — introduces you to a trading platform with “guaranteed returns”. You start with a small deposit and the platform shows your money growing beautifully. That dashboard is fiction. When you try to withdraw, you are asked for more taxes, fees or a “minimum balance”. The money was gone the moment you sent it. RED FLAGS - Guaranteed returns or “risk-free” profits. No investment is guaranteed. - Pressure to deposit fast: “the bonus expires tonight”. - A platform not registered with your country's financial regulator. Always check the regulator's public register. - Withdrawal fees invented after you deposit. - A “manager” who only talks on WhatsApp or Telegram and never shows a face. - Recovery promises: anyone claiming they can get your money back for a fee is a second scammer. WHAT TO DO - Verify the platform with your national financial regulator before sending a cent. - Never install software from an “investment advisor” — it is often remote-control malware. - If you already paid, contact your bank immediately about a possible fraud transaction. - Report the platform and the wallet address on SCAMEND so others can check it. REMEMBER If you can see your profits growing but cannot withdraw them, the profit was never real.
